Relief

Finally, our project has been checked, corrected, improved and submitted. Thanks to everyone working hard (even Paddy at the end), and thanks to our new recruits Sam and Rose, the whole project was completed.

However, we have a new problem for the group as we continue forwards, a new violent disgusting creature resembling the features that would not be out of place on a troll, or Golem. This horrifying waste of CO2 is called Shivon Dean and has been diminishing the work of the group. We will persevere!

The Phone Phenomena

As we found out that you can't take living tissue into the CERN labs we switched our experiment to how the beam line would interact with phones as this could be relent as phones are becoming one of the most widely used technologies on the planet.

Deadline

With tomorrow's deadline for the Prodject growing ever closer the heat has really ramped up. We are finishing off filming, Arun is writing the essay and sending it off to professors to check and Macklin is going to pull an all nighters to finish off the editing. Even Paddy promises to help, we shall see...

Bombazilling Beam

Today we held our weekly meeting on a Tuesday.  We have pinpointed our experiment down to firing a stream of particles at the various food groups. We have been deciding between the different kinds of particles to fire. We all had deep conversation discussing great ideas. However,  Paddy wasn't there again due to a hockey match. He is such a dissapointment!

Down to Business

Today we got serious about completing the essay and video. We all agreed to do it at Tom Macklin's house, although we couldn't do this saturday. Everyone really now seems set on getting this work done (excluding Paddy for obvious reasons ).

Disaster Strikes

DISASTER! Today our weekly meeting was cancelled due to Arun having a day in Oxford, Tom Macklin having economics work and Paddy having a hockey match. Despite this critical meeting being postponed we will all continue to do our independent research (except Paddy obvs). I'm expecting big things soon...

Paddy Strikes Again

Today Arun confronted Paddy about the extreme lack of contributions and work he had been making. Paddy did not take this well. Due to his anger management he kicked off massively and shouted at Arun (as pictured). Will Paddy remain in the team? We shall see...

The Next Phase

The group has been working hard o finalise all the ideas bases on the food proton emissions idea to be ready to write the essay and create the video for the competition. I would also add it is difficult to complete the competing with only four men as Paddy us just as useless as ever.

Quantum Computers

There's been an increase exiting development in the world of quantum computing and since its still on the quantum top I thought I'd share it on here.

Scientists have trained a quantum computer to recognize trees. That may not seem like a big deal, but the result means that researchers are a step closer to using such computers for complicated machine learning problems like pattern recognition and computer vision.

Quantum Effects in Biology

We fond some intresting information that may help with our various fruit and vegetable ideas: Biologists do not take a quantum physics course during their studies because so far they were able to make sense of biological phenomena without using the counterintuitive quantum laws of physics that govern the atomic scale. However, in recent years progress in experimental technology has revealed that quantum phenomena are relevant for fundamental biological processes such as photosynthesis, magneto-reception and olfaction. We have helped to initiate the development of this research field and are now working to discover how nature is harnessing quantum dynamics to optimize biological function.

Physics Society

The group all attended a physics society event at school, we had Dr. Ralph Schoenrich speek about the history of the milky way. He spoke in depth about how matter is distributed throughout the universe. This was particularly intresting for Arun and Ben who plan on taking physics further.

London Careers Fair

Weird as it is to think, there will be life after the competition... but there is... I think. So today the group went to a careers fair at the Emirates stadium in london.
Arun and Ben want to peruse physics further in life, I (Tom O) want to go into chemistry, Macklin would like to further his intrest in media, hence the reason he will be editing the video... unfortunately the useless Paddy, is still yet to turn up to a meeting and is going to study geography... not supried.

Oooh Fruity!

Today the group had its weekly meeting (Paddy didn't show up ofc). We have finally come up with an actual idea. Arun Sharma was the one with the initial inspiration. The idea was to test the decay fruits after remembering bannanas release positrons. Ben then proposed that we branch out and test different foods and categorise tgem.  Now we all have a base foundation to go away and research.

Pancake Day

As today is pancake day, the team took a great day out to eat some great pancakes. Could this lead to further inspiration?...

Sunday Smash

The whole team supported england rugby whilst they played Italy. C'MON ENGLAND!!! Despite this the group continued with new ideas, although no definate area of study has been decided upon. The search continues...

Weekend

Despite it being the weekend the group remained in constant contact to exchange ideas about the project.

The Perpitrator

Today, not only me, but the group as a whole was savagely harassed by a violent delinquent, who takes pleasure in making life more difficult for others. This carachter is called Joseph Armitage (pictured below) and remains a constant hindrance to the groups progress, this cannot continue...

The Paddy Problem

Today was an intresting day, with the group bouncing ideas off each other.
However the problem continued that Paddy was not doing anything. Someone suggested that we should remove Paddy from the group, however I suggested we should give him a second chance. We shall see...

Class Work

We have carried on researching around whilst also working on our A levels in physics lessons. It's lots of work but if you love physics it's enjoyable.

Birthday Work

It is my birthday, but despite this we are all still working hard for the good of the group... Paddy is still yet to contribute.
Arun Sharma is still giving me abuse for continuing the blog, however I belive it is important to document and publish our creative/scientific process.

The Cloud

Could there be a link between galactic cosmic rays and cloud formation? An experiment at CERN is using the cleanest box in the world to find out

Ben and Arun talked to Mr. Clark Maxwell who gave them the following ideas for further research:

We also got the book: Physics High Level for IB Diploma by: Chris Hamper for Mr. Clark Maxwell to use for research.

First Day

Today we (Tom(s), Arun, Ben and Paddy) met at break time to organise all future meeting. We decided they would be in the school library after school every Wednesday to discuss all our ideas and research etc. we had come up with during the week. The team name "Death Starz" was agreed upon and initial ideas were discusses especially around Plank's constant as well as setting up this blog.
